Story Synopsis:

Steve Mannion (Fearless Dawn, The Bomb) serves up a 40-page giant comic issue containing two stories which offer a humorous and quirky approach to the classic fairy tale genre. "The Tale" is a rollicking chronicle about love, heroism, friendship, and mowing down evil demons with machine guns. "Little Dead Riding Hood" is a warped retelling of the classic children's story, with a gruesome "twist" ending reminiscent of the finest pre-code horror comics of the 1950s.

"I'm really excited to be working with Chuck Brown and Philipp Neundorf to publish this exciting, action-packed story," publisher Frank Forte says. "Trench Coats has a dark storyline and twisted characters. It's exactly what Asylum Press wants to bring to the masses." The story centers around a mysterious hitman named Trypp who only relies on three things – his trench coat, cigarettes and shotgun – as he navigates a dangerous world filled with mech-wielding gangsters, demonic Mafioso and demons that run wild on earth. A new kind of crime family that has emerged in New York City uses ancient satanic rituals to gain the speed, strength and other attributes of demons. When the mob murders Trypp's friend, he embraces the darkness in his soul, leaving a path of death and destruction to avenge her.
“Working with Philipp Neundorf was a writer’s dream," says writer Chuck Brown, "though we bumped heads now and again he was able to take the world of Trench Coats, Cigarettes and Shotguns to new heights. Assembling this book took a lot of time and sleepless nights, but in the end I think we created something unique and special. Take away all the demons, death, magic and mayhem in the book and you’re left with a simple story about a grain of good trying to stay afloat in a sea of evil. Something I think a lot of people can relate to nowadays."
Artist Philipp Neundorf explains the creative process behind the book series, "Doing a full color page per day for around three months is an intense undertaking, even more so when collaborating with strong personalities like Chuck. Often enough we were crushing our heads like Trypp does to the demons in the book. However, after looking at the final pages, it was worth the fight. Doing comics that have to compete with the big-name titles out there in the market is tough."
